CITY OF ROSEMEAD
RESOLUTION N0. 71-9
WHEREAS, Minoru Fujita, who immigrated-to this
country from Japan 17 years ago, and-is now a,-re,sid'ent of the
City of Rosemead, has frequently distinguished-himself in
the difficult art of writing Japanese poetry; and
WHEREAS., Minoru Fujita has recently achieved the
highest honor that can be attained by a Japanese poet in that
his poem was chosen as.one of nine selected from 33,170
entries from all over the world to be chanted before Emperor

THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD COMMENDING
MINORU FUJITA
Hirohito of Japan; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Minoru Fujita brings
honor and respect not only to him, but to the City of Rosemead,
and all its citizens.; and
WHEREAS, through Minoru Fuj ita' saexcept i:onad:c-,contr i-
butions in poetry, and landscape gardening, his chosen
-occupation,. the City of Rosemead is made a better place to
live; and
WHEREAS, Minoru Fujita's present and future
accomplishments will aid and encourage those of all.races to
participate fully in all activities that comprise our society,
thereby substantially reducing the'senseless friction and
hostilities that presently exist;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor
and the members of the City Council, in behalf of all-the
citizens of Rosemead,rheartily commend Minoru Fujita for
his outstanding achievements, which have significantly
benefited this city and all those who live here, and wish
him continued success in the years to come..
