CC - 1971 - 64 - Assembly Bill No. 1098RESOLUTION NO. 71-64
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD OPPOSING THE PASSAGE
OF ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1098.
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 1093 proposes to increase
retirement benefits for local safety officers; and
WHEREAS, passage of A.B. 1098 will result not only in
additional future expense, but will also have an immediate
and drastic impact on local resources by reason of the
.necessity of immediately providing substantial additional
sums of money for prior service credits; and
WHEREAS, passage of A.B. 1098 will inevitably result
in significantly increasing costs for local law enforcement
services which costs have already reached alarming proportions,
especially for cities in Los Angeles County which must
contract for such services with the County of Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, such additional cost will undoubtedly have
an inflationary impact at a time when national policy requires
that steps be taken to reduce inflationary pressures,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Rosemead does hereby strongly oppose the passage
of Assembly Bill No. 1098.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
sent to the Assemblymen and Senators representing Los Angeles
County, to Governor Ronald Reagan, to all cities of Los Angeles
County, to the California League of Cities; and to the
California Association of County Supervisors.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 21ST DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1971.
