CC - 1997-39 - Supporting the Groundwater Remediation Efforts in the El Monte & South El Monte Operable Units0 • RESOLUTION 97 -34 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD SUPPORTING THE GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION EFFORTS IN THE EL MONTE AND SOUTH EL MONTE OPERABLE UNITS WHEREAS, the Main San Gabriel Basin has been deemed a Federal Superfund Site; and WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead recognizes and is concerned about the social and economic impacts caused by Superfund activities on local business involved in the El Monte and South El Monte Operable Units; and WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead supports the efforts of the local business community, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority to resolve groundwater contamination issues in the San Gabriel Valley in a timely and cost effective manner. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: 1. To support the business community, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority in their efforts to resolve the groundwater contamination issues in a timely, cost effective and acceptable manner. 2. To work in concert with the above named parties in an effort to expedite the remediation efforts in the El Monte and South El Monte Operable Units.
