CC - Item 2A - Public Hearing on Annual Action Plana
ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
STAFF REPORT
TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: OLIVER CHI, CITY MANAGER G%-l"e_~
DATE: FEBRUARY 26, 2008
SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ANNUAL ACTION PLAN AMENDMENT FOR
FISCAL YEAR 2007-08
SUMMARY
Each year between May and July, the City of Rosemead submits an Annual Action Plan
covering the period July 1 of that year through June 30 of the following year to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). An Annual Action Plan is
required by HUD in order for the City to receive federal funds under the Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME)
programs. The Annual Action Plan includes the proposed activities, resources and
expenditures for the CDBG and HOME programs.
Having reviewed the activities identified in the Fiscal Year 2007-08 Annual Action Plan,
staff is proposing to amend this Plan to better reflect the needs of the City. CDBG
entitlement funds which were to be used during the Fiscal Year 2007-08 for City Hall
ADA Improvements are recommended now to be used as follows:
City Facilities ADA Improvements $330,000
Provide funds for ADA Improvements to city-owned buildings.
This revision will allow funds originally allocated for only City Hall ADA improvements to
be expanded to include ADA improvements for all city-owned buildings. It has been
determined that there are several other city facilities that are in need of ADA
improvements and with this amendment these funds would now be able to be expanded
on these facilities. It does not affect or change the original allocation amount of
$330,000.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council approve and authorize submittal of the
amended Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development covering the period July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008.
