ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL MEETING
April 25, 2008
The regular meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called to order by Mayor Tran at 6:00 p.m. in the
conference room of City Hall, at 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California. The pledge to the flag
was led by Councilmember Low. The invocation was delivered by Councilmember Taylor.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:
Present: Councilmember's Clark, Low, Taylor, Mayor Pro Tern Nunez, Mayor Tran
Absent: None
1. PUBLIC COMMENT FROM THE AUDIENCE: None.
2. RECONSIDERATION OF LAND USE DESIGNATION OF SOUTHWEST QUADRANT FROM
MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL TO LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL
Dolly Leong asked Council to reconsider changing the southwest portion of the City of Rosemead to low
density residential.
Mayor Tran stated he had previously voted for the consideration of the change but was now asking Council
to reconsider.
Assistant City Manager Brian Saeki stated that if Council recommended this area would remain at medium
density.
Mayor Pro-Tem Nunez asked if there was a problem with him voting on this matter because he had a family
trust home in this area.
City Attorney Bonifacio Garcia stated he did not feel comfortable with Mr. Nunez voting on this issue.
Council Member Clark stated she was under the impression they were able to vote on this matter.
City Manager Chi explained no actions had been taken and that Council was only amending a previous
recommendation given to staff to study changing the southwest quadrant from medium density residential
to low density residential.
City Attorney Garcia stated it was okay for Mr. Nunez and Ms. Clark to vote on this matter.
Council Member Low stated she had recommended staff look into this matter but stated she also listens to
the residents and recognized there were a lot of concerns; therefore, she agreed to reconsider this matter.
Mayor Tran called for a motion to reconsider prior recommendation of the land designation from medium to
low.

Mayor Pro Tern Nunez made a motion, seconded by Council Member Low to amend the previous
recommendation of land use designation of the southwest quadrant from medium density
residential to low density residential and having it remain as is for the proposed Draft General Plan.
Vote resulted:
Yes: Clark, Low, Nunez, Taylor, Tran
No: None
Abstain: None
Absent: None
3. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m. The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled to take place on
May 13, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
