RESOLUTION NO. 95-18
PROCLAIMING APRIL 25, 1995
AS NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY
WHEREAS, in 1990, the Jefferson Awards, the Points of Light Foundation, and the United
States Conference of Mayors joined with Youth Service America to create
National Youth Service Day; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of National Youth Service Day is to recognize and encourage the
many positive contributions that young Americans are making to their
communities every day; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemead has traditionally taken pride in
recognizing the accomplishments of the youth of our community; and
WHEREAS, last April, the City Council of the City of Rosemead sponsored a "Youth
Services Recognition Day" at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center
and intends to sponsor a similar event again this year; and
WHEREAS, the recognition of the community-oriented efforts of our nation's young
people represents an important element of nurturing the next generation of
leaders.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rosemead
does hereby proclaim April 25, 1995 to be National Youth Service Day and encourages all
citizens to make an additional effort to recognize and salute the positive contributions of our
nation's young people.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 28th day march 1995.
