RESOLUTION NO. 93-14
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD APPROVING THE APPLICATION
FOR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB 821 AND
APPROVING THE ADOPTION OF ITS PEDESTRIAN PLAN
.WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each Count's total
local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to
fund the development of pedestrian facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead has planned concrete
pedestrian walkways to be constructed in conformance with
specifications of Caltrans;.and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead desires to construct the
concrete pedestrian walkways within their city utilizing the
funds available under SB 821.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City council of the City of Rosemead
does hereby resolve as follows:
1. To approve the proposed pedestrian walkways to be
constructed in conformance with the Specifications of
Caltrans.
2. . To authorize the City Manager as the City'g
authorized signature and designated contact person.
3. To apply for all funds available to the City of
Rosemead allocated for pedestrian facilities'(SB 821).

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD OPPOSING THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A CARD CASINO IN THE /
CITY OF MONTEREY PARK
WHEREAS, a Los Angeles developer is proposing to build "Family
Entertainment Center/Card Casino" within the corporate bou daries of
the City of Monterey Park; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of t e City of
Rosemead that the creation of similar card clubs in Lo Angeles
County have resulted in an increase of gang-related t rf wars, loan
sharking, money laundering, vandalism, and other ill al activities;
and
WHEREAS, it is likely that such activities wi serve to tarnish
the image of the City of Monterey Park and Burro ding communities,
thus leading to a reduction of property values d an inability to
attract quality.businesses to the area; and
WHEREAS, it is the view of the City Counc 1 and the City of
Rosemead that this issue may cause division nd disharmony among the
residents of the communities of Monterey Pa and Rosemead; and
WHEREAS, the additional traffic gener ed from a
fully-operational card casino would over rden an already stressed
traffic control system in our area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED thz~k the City Council of the City
of Rosemead opposes the efforts of t developer seeking to build a
card casino within the neighboring c mmunity of Monterey Park under
the guise of a "Family Entertainmen Center."
