RESOLUTION NO. 89-17
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD CONSENTING TO AND REQUESTING
INCLUSION OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD WITHIN THE
PROPOSED SAN GABRIEL VALLEY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead is committed to maintaining the
health and welfare of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the presence of the St. Louis Encephalitis (SLE) virus
is not limited to any specific area of Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, the formation of a San Gabriel Valley Mosquito Abatement
District would be a logical step in addressing the threat of SLE on a
long-term basis; and
WHEREAS, at its meeting of January 24, 1989, the Board of
Supervisors of Los Angeles County adopted a Resolution Making
Application to the Local Agency Formation commission, pursuant to the
Cortese-Knox Government Reorganization Act, for the formation of a
mosquito abatement district in the San Gabriel Valley; and
WHEREAS, Section 2220 of the California Health and Safety Code
requires consent, by resolution, of affected cities; and
WHEREAS, the Rosemead City Council wishes to join in the County's
effort to provide a long-term solution to the recurring threat of
mosquito-borne SLE and other mosquito-related problems;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Rosemead hereby consents to and requests inclusion of the City of
Rosemead within the boundaries of the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito
Abatement District, as proposed by the County of Los Angeles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council consents to and
requests inclusion within the proposed San Gabriel Valley Mosquito
Abatement District only if the annual per-parcel-cost does not exceed
$2.17 when the District is approved in its final form.
