19--A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD OPPOSING THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH AUTHORITY'S PLANNED
REDUCTION OF FUNDING TO THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES JUSTICE SYSTEM SUBVENTION
PROGRAM (CJSSP)
WHEREAS, Rosemead is one of six cities comprising the Joint
Powers Authority (JPA) forming the West San Gabriel Valley Juvenile
Diversion Project; and
WHEREAS, the West San Gabriel Valley Juvenile Diversion Project
has yielded demonstrable benefits to the Rosemead community; and
WHEREAS, the West San Gabriel Valley Juvenile Diversion Project
derives a substantial portion of its current funding from the County
Justice System Subvention Program; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Youth
Authority's plan to reduce funding to the County of Los Angeles
Justice System Subvention Program (CJSSP) could severely impact the
effectiveness of the West San Gabriel Valley Juvenile Diversion
Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Rosemead opposes the plan by the State of California, Department
of Youth Authority to reduce funding to the County of Los Angeles
Justice System Advisory Group.
