CC- 1989-48 - Agency Payment for Installation of Newmark Sewer ProjectRESOLUTION NO. 89-48
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS AND DETERMINATIONS
WITH RESPECT TO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PAYMENT FOR
THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEWMARK AVENUE SEWER PROJECT
WHEREAS, the portion of the Newmark Avenue depicted on Exhibit
"A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, lies
west of Project Area No. 1; and
WHEREAS, the installation of the Newmark Avenue sewer will
complete the upgrading of the Rosemead Sewer System and encourage
private development within Project Area No. 1.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council resolves as
follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines, and
declares as follows:
(a) The payment by the Rosemead Redevelopment Agency of the
sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) toward the
total cost of the installation of Newmark Avenue sewer
as depicted on Exhibit "A" hereto, is of benefit to
Project Area No. 1. The sewer improvements include a
sewer mainline in Newmark Avenue between Pine Street
and Falling Leaf Avenue, parallel to an existing
eight-inch sewer. The purpose of the sewer is to add
capacity to handle peak flows which have recently been
observed to cause sewage backflow problems.. The sewer
improvements will encourage private development in
Project Area No. 1.
(b) That there are no other reasonable means of financing
.such buildings, facilities, structures, or other
improvements available to the community. Although the
City has a General Fund surplus, the uncertainty of,'the
economy and continuing municipal revenue sources
militates against the depletion of the existing
reserves.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of Auguirt',' 1989.
