LAZZARETTO, CITY MANAGE DATE: MARCH 27. 2007 SUBJECT: CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 80TH ANNIVERSARY FAIR AND BBQ COOK-OFF SUMMARY The Rosemead Chamber of Commerce is proposing to celebrate their 80th Anniversary with a street fair and barbeque cook-off set to take place April 27-28 on Hart Street between Marshall and Glendon Way. City Council approval will be required in order for this event to take place, and the Chamber has requested support for the following initiatives: • Closure of Hart Street between Marshall and Glendon Way • Law Enforcement support • Event coordination and advertising assistance A more detailed listing has been included as Attachment A for your review. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Chamber of Commerce's request for City assistance as outlined in Attachment A. ANALYSIS The Chamber of Commerce 80th Anniversary Celebration promises to be a positive event for the City with minimal impacts. The closure of Hart Street should not present a problem to our residential community as there are no homes located on Hart between Marshall and Glendon Way. In addition, flyers will be distributed in advance to notify nearby residents about the event and the street closure. Submitted Parks and Recreation Attachment A: Chamber of Commerce Request for City Assistance • 0 Attachment A: ROSEMEAD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FIRST ANNUAL B.B.Q. COOK-OFF AND 80TH ANNIVERSARY FAIR REQUEST FOR CITY ASSISTANCE 1. Be allowed to hang two street banners advertising the event, one on Valley and the other on Garvey and work with the Department of Parks and Recreation to have them installed. The Chamber will provide the two banners and pay for the installation and removal. 2. Allow for the closure of Hart Street from Marshall to Glendon Way from 4:00 p.m., on Friday, April 27`n through Saturday, April 28`n, at 8:00 p.m. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide for the set-up and removal of street barricades. 3. To name the City of Rosemead as additional insured on the Chamber Insurance. 4. To have the Parks and Recreation Department set-up the City's stage, three small bleachers, tables, chairs and booths. 5. To have the Cit's street sweeper sweep Hart Street before 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27` , and again on Sunday, April 29`n 6. To have the City acquire two Sheriff's to assist with the event on Saturday, April 28th. The Chamber will reimburse the City for this expense. Chamber BBQ-Cook-off/sb
