SUBJECT: INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF SHOPPING CENTERS DEAL MAKING
CONFERENCE - SAN DIEGO - SEPTEMBER 18-20,2007
SUMMARY
Attached for your consideration is information regarding the International Council of
Shopping Centers Conference, San Diego, September 18-20, 2007.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize any Council Member, the City
Attorney, the City Manager, or a staff designee to attend the event at City expense.
ANALYSIS
The program will feature a roundtable format to discuss key issues in the shopping
center industry in which over 100 leaders will provide handouts on topics that focus on
architecture, development, leasing, marketing operations, retail trends, site selection,
investment sales and capital market strategies.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Expenses for this conference are included in the 2007-08 Budget.

The Western Division Conference and Deal Making has moved from Palm Springs to San Diego.
This move has brought about many exciting changes to the program agenda such as:
• New exhibit hours
• Double the exhibit hall size
• New Program Format
We have hotel properties throughout the city, and to help make your program experience easier,
shuttle service will be provided from these hotels to the convention center daily. I'm sure you will
find the San Diego Convention Center to be a great venue for this conference and San Diego's
climate fantastic. I hope you are looking forward to these changes and this new experience, and
