CC - 1996-37 - Establishing Law Enforcement Recognition DayRESOLUTION NO. %-37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD ESTABLISHING "LAW ENFORCEMENT RECOGNITION DAY" IN THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD WHEREAS, the members of the Rosemead City Council recognize the importance of quality police services and are committed to providing quality law enforcement services in the Rosemead community; and WHEREAS, modem Law Enforcement professionals are subject to intense scrutiny among the all elements of society, thus resulting in a disproportionate amount of negative media coverage of Law Enforcement issues; and WHEREAS, the positive contributions of public safety personnel evident in the daily lives of all persons living in our community; and WHEREAS, the members of the Rosemead City Council seeks to highlight to positive contributions of law enforcement personnel in our community and others in the area in a permanent and meaningful manner; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to draw from the resources of the community in recognizing the achievements and accomplishments of local law enforcement personnel. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rosemead establishes one day during the second week in May each year as "Law Enforcement Recognition Day" to be celebrated in conjunction with the "Los Angeles County Peace Officer's Memorial" held each year by the Los Angeles County SherifFs Department at the S.T.A.R Center in Whittier. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1996.
