CC - Item 2F - Bus Stop Improvements Bids and Award0 0 ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: OLIVER CHI, INTERIM CITY MANAGER DATE: JUNE 26, 2007 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR BUS STOPIMPROVEMENTS SUMMARY On May 31, 2007, bids were received for the subject project, which provides for the upgrading of the City's bus stop furnishings. City Council will consider award of the contract to All Purpose Manufacturing in the amount of $264,069.16. Staff Recommendation That the City Council accept all bids and award the project to All Purpose Manufacturing in the amount of $264,069.16; waive the irregularities in the bids by All Purpose Manufacturing and Pima Corporation; and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract on behalf of the City. ANALYSIS The following bids were received for the subject project on May 31, 2007: 1. All Purpose Manufacturing $264,069.16 2. Sadie Construction $338,800.00 3. Excel Paving $429,720.00 4. Pima Corporation $530,200.00 Attached are copies of the three lowest bids, a bid analysis, and Dun and Bradstreet reports for each of the three low bidders. The bid submitted by All Purpose Manufacturing, a responsible contractor, is forty-one percent below the Engineer's estimate of $446,000. The average bid for all of the bidders was $390,697.29. Irregularities in the bid amounts by All Purpose Manufacturing and Pima Corporation were due to addition errors that did not affect the order of the bids. FINANCIAL REVIEW Funding for the Bus Stop Improvements is included in the FY 06 -07 Budget utilizing Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and Proposition C funds.
