Attachment A: Draft Letter Regarding Single Family Home Design Guidelines APPROVED FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA: 0 6 ATTACHMENT A Dear Rosemead Resident: The Rosemead City Council recently adopted new Single Family Home Design Guidelines which took effect July 12, 2007. The new guidelines will address a variety of issues related to the design of homes, including architectural treatments, landscaping, and fencing. While many of the current design standards are being enhanced, several requirements will remain unchanged. For example, it was initially proposed to decrease the maximum allowable front yard fence height from 48 inches to 36 inches. Several residents expressed their concerns with that proposed change and the City Council unanimously decided to leave the maximum allowable height at 48 inches. An easy to use guide is now available for homeowners, designers, contractors, and developers to reference when making decisions regarding new construction, major additions, and/or exterior remodeling projects. Copies of this booklet and the new guidelines can be downloaded from the City's website at www.citvofrosemead.org. In addition, the documents are also available at Rosemead City Hall. The City looks forward to working with the community in implementing these new guidelines. If you have any questions or comments regarding this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact the Rosemead Community Development Department at (626) 569-2140.
