CC - Item 4F - CA Contract Cities Association Sacramento League Orientation TourE M 5 O ~ 9 ORF'oRATEO • ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL I FROM: OLIVER CHI, CITY MANAGER DATE: DECEMBER 11, 2007 SUBJECT: CALIFORNIA CONTRACT CITIES ASSOCIATION - SACRAMENTO LEGISLATIVE ORIENTATION TOUR SUMMARY Attached for your review and consideration is information on the 2008 Annual Sacramento Legislative Orientation Tour, held in Sacramento from January 14-16, 2008. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that the City Council authorize any Council Member, the City Manager and staff designee. ANALYSIS The program of events will include sessions with Senate and Assembly, legislative and executive branch leadership. Issues that will be address will include: Home owner Protection Act, Water, Universal health Care, Transportation and the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act of 2007 (AB 2987-Levin). FINANCIAL REVIEW Funds for this conference are included in the 2007-08 Budget. PUBLIC NOTICE PROCESS This item has been noticed through the regular agenda notification process. A registration form and hotel ervation form are attached. We urge all members of the Association to attend. This will be another critical year for Contract Cities and local government in general and we are counting on your support. Remember there is strength in numbers if we want our concerns to be considered. The program of events will include sessions with Senate and Assembly, legislative and executive branch leadership.
