SUBJECT: FISCAL YEAR 2005-06 BUDGET TRANSFER AUTHORIZATION
SUMMARY
A review of this year's budget indicates that some departmental accounts will exceed
their budgeted amounts, and City Council action is required to transfer $328,300 in
funds from unappropriated reserves to cover the shortfall. It is important to note,
however, that total expenditures for the City are under budget.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize a transfer of $328,300 from
unappropriated reserves to cover additional costs incurred during the current fiscal year
2005-06.
ANALYSIS
Listed below are the requested transfers:
City Clerk (4120) - $84,810 is requested to cover the costs incurred for the
Special Election to be held in September 2006.
Narcotics Forfeiture and Seizure (4360) - $2,100 is requested for additional costs
for the Gang Alternative and Prevention Program (GAPP).
Maintenance: Streets and Highways (4600) - $28,000 is requested to cover
additional costs for street and highway maintenance and repairs.
Traffic Signal Maintenance (4630) - $30,000 is requested to cover additional
costs for signal maintenance.
Maintenance Trees and Parkways (4640) - $30,800 is requested to cover
additional costs for routine tree maintenance.
Community Improvements (4740) - $63,980 is requested to cover additional
costs for graffiti removal.

Aquatics (4830) - $56,710 is requested to cover additional costs for utilities.
Recreation Fee and Charge (4840) - $30,630 is requested to cover additional
costs for classes.
Aquatics Fee and Charge (4850) - $1,270 is requested to cover additional
department supplies.
