A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD OPPOSING THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A LOS ANGELES COUNTY HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER
ON THE VACANT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON PROPERTY
LOCATED AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF WALNUT GROVE AVENUE
AND RUSH STREET
WHEREAS, the County Board of Supervisors is desirous of locating
a County Medical Center in the Eastern San Gabriel Valley; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services
has identified the Walnut Grove property as an additional site to be
considered;.and
WHEREAS, the Rosemead City Council took action at their October
22, 1991 meeting to recommend site number 37, located between Workman
Mill Road and the 605 Freeway which is known as the "Caterpillar
Site" that has a willing seller; and
WHEREAS, the above-mentioned site has better access and
visibility due to its proximity to freeways and major highways; and
WHEREAS, there is an active earthquake fault under the Walnut
Grove Avenue site; and
WHEREAS, the Walnut Grove Avenue site is adjacent to residential
areas and is a part of a master plan of corporate offices for that,
particular area.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Rosemead is opposed to the locating and constructing of a County
Medical Facility at the Walnut Grove Avenue site in the City of
Rosemead.
