CC - 1986-58 - Opposing formation of the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Zone•
11
RESOLUTION NO.-86-58
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
OPPOSING THE FORMATION OF THE
SAN GABRIEL VALLEY TRANSPORTATION ZONE
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has proposed the
formation of the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Zone; and
WHEREAS, the formation of that zone would put localized private
transportation companies in direct competition with one
another; and
WHEREAS, Rosemead citizens would be impacted negatively by a lack of
continuity in service; and
WHEREAS, the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Zone would represent
an inappropriate alternative to existing RTD transit
service; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the proposed Transportation Zone is to
replace public financing of transportation with private
contracting and the City of Rosemead is already doing that
with its Shopper Shuttle and Dial-A-Ride programs, there is
no need for the Transportation Zone within the City of
Rosemead.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Rosemead City Council is
opposed to the formation of the San Gabriel Valley Transportation
Zone as an alternative method of mass transit in Southern California.
