MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING ADOPTED BY THE
ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL ROSEMEAD
SEPTEMBER 28, 2004 CITY COUNCIL
The regular meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called to order by Mayor Clark at 8:01
p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California.
The Pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Pro Tem Imperial.
The Invocation was delivered by Reverend Ken Wong of the First Evangelical Church of
San Gabriel.

1. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
Juan Nunez, 2704 Del Mar, Rosemead, spoke regarding a letter he received which stated
that the "OSCE" (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) will be inviting a group
from outside the USA to verify and review the upcoming presidential election results. Mr.
Nunez left a copy of his letter.
H. PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER RECOMMENDED EXPENDITURES
OF CITIZEN'S OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) FUNDS
Bill Crowe, City Manager, presented the staff report.
The Mayor opened the Public Hearing for those in the audience wishing to speak for or
against this item.
Juan Nunez, 2702 Del Mar, Rosemead, asked if this would be impacted by the proposed
half cent sales tax that will be on the November ballot.
There being no one else wishing to speak, the Mayor closed the Public Hearing.

IMPERIAL that the Council approve the appropriation and expenditure of COPS funds per the
Sheriffs Department recommendation. Vote resulted:

IMPERIAL that the Council adopt Resolution No. 2004-42 and direct the City Clerk to distribute

B. COUNCILMAN TAYLOR
Requested clarification from the City Clerk regarding a news article in the Star News
which states that the Referendum Petition being circulated is due in the City Clerk's office on
October 21", which is the wrong date.
Nancy Valderrama, City Clerk, responded that the news article is incorrect and that no
one from the media has contacted her office for any information regarding the petition.
C. COUNCILMAN VASQUEZ
Stated that he is looking forward to the next meeting which will consider approval of
plans and specs for the renovation of Zapopan Center as a Sheriffs Substation.

IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further action to be taken at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10
p.m. in memory of Mildred Kress, mother of Bob Kress. The next regular meeting will be held
on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 8:00 p.m.
