CC - 1984-42 - Improvement of San Gabriel Blvdrt .
. . e
RESOLUTION NO. 84-42
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS AND DETERMINATIONS WITH
RESPECT TO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PARTICIPATION
IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF SAN GABRIEL BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, the portion of San Gabriel Boulevard depicted
on Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by
this reference, lies southerly of and is a major gateway to
Project Area No. 1; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Shopping Center is expected to
generate a significantly higher volume of traffic which
necessitates the widening and improving of San Gabriel
Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the improvement of San Gabriel Boulevard as
depicted on Exhibit "A" will facilitate the safemovement of
traffic through Project Area No. 1.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rosemead
resolves as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines and
declares as follows:
(a) The payment by the Rosemead
Redevelopment Agency of the sum of Five
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) toward
the total cost of the improvement and widening
of San Gabriel Boulevard, as depicted on
Exhibit "A" hereto, is of benefit to Project
Area No. 1. This finding is based upon the
fact that San Gabriel Boulevard is a major
thoroughfare to and through the Project Area.
The particular portion of the street to be
improved lies just southerly of the boundary
of the Project Area.
(b) That there are no other reasonable
means of financing such buildings, facilities,
structures or other improvements available to
the community. Although the City has a
General Fund surplus, the uncertainty of
continuing municipal revenue sources militates
against the depletion of the existing reserves
until such time as revenue sources are more
stable as the result of permanent State
legislation and/or Constitutional amendment.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 10th day of
July , 1984.
