RESOLUTION NO. 73- 41
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD APPROVING THAT PORTION OF THE LOS ANGELES
COUNTY FEDERAL-AID URBAN STREET SYSTEM WITHIN THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD.
WHEREAS, the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1970 directed the
establishment of a Federal-Aid Urban System of Highways for the
Metropolitan Areas; and
WHEREAS, the Federal legislation provided that routes on
the Urban System shall be selected by appropriate local officials
and the State Highway Department in cooperation with each other; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration has declared
that the Federal-Aid Urban System shall be comprised of Type IV
Classification and Needs Study; and
WHEREAS, the technical transportation advisors of the
Southern California Association of Governments, in cooperation with
the Division of Highways, have designated a Federal-Aid Urban System
within the 1970 Bureau of Census Urbanization Limits conforming to
the instructions of the Federal Administration; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the Federal-Aid Urban System
be approved by the local agencies before Federal-Aid Urban £ytnds can
be expended for improvements on these.:routes; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Federal-Aid System consists of Type IV
arterials that were previously included in the Federal-Aid Secondary or
the Federal-Aid Primary Type II Systems and is composed primarily of
Major Highways on the Master Plan of Highways for the urbanized area,
of Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, these systems have been fully coordinated and
integrated in cooperation with all cities in the Los Angeles-Long Beach
Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los
Angeles has approved the Federal-Aid Urban System of Highways designated
for the urbanized portion of the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rosemead
approved that portion of the Los Angeles County Federal-Aid Urban System
within the City of Rosemead and any resultant changes in the Federal-Aid
Secondary System and the Federal-Aid Primary Type II (TOPICS) System and
recommends that the County of Los Angeles notify the California Division
of Highways of the City's concurrence in and approval of these systems.
