of the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF RoSaTAD, expressing a hearty
"WELL DONE!" to
CAPTAIN JOHN NASMYTH, U.S.A.F.
WHEREAS, one of the most accurate measurements of greatness in this
nation can be found in the calibre of the men who serve it,
in times of war, with honor, with dignity and with faith
in the rightness of its principles; and
WHEREAS, without doubt, the worst fate to befall a fighting man is to
become a prisoner of the enemy, thus experiencing personal
anguish, possible doubts and excruciating boredom; and
WHEREAS, JOHN NASMYTH, a Captain in the United States Air Force during
the Vietnamese Conflict, was shot dawn over North Viet Nam,
captured by the enemy and held prisoner for six and one-half
years, three of which he was presumed dead; and
WHEREAS, during this most trying of times, this brave and dedicated
young man did not waver in his devotion to his country, in
his concern for his fellow prisoners, nor in his belief in
the rightness of his nation's position; and
WHEREAS, Rosemead citizens are the richer for being able to count
JOHN NASMYTH and the NASMYTH FAMILY in their midst and can
take pride in the fact that JOHN was educated in this city,
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DO HEREBY
EXPRESS OUR PROFOUND GRATITUDE TO JOHN NASMYTH FOR HIS SACRIFICE FOR
HIS COUNTRY AND COMMEND HIM WITH A HEARTY !WELL DONE!"
