RESOLUTION NO. 73-58
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD IN OPPOSITION TO PENDING PROPOSALS
TO FORM SAN GABRIEL AND MONTEREY PARK UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That this City Council expresses its deep interest
in the children of the City of Rosemead and its concern that adequate
primary and secondary educational facilities be provided and maintained
for our younger citizens, who will bear the responsibility for our
institutions and the future welfare of our community, state, and nation.
Section 2. That this City Council go emphatically on record
in opposition to the pending proposals to form a San Gabriel Unified
School District and a Monterey Park Unified School District at this time,
and urges that the L.A. County Committee on School District Reorganization
defer any action on such proposals until all facts have been developed,
all impact on all affected districts has been carefully examined and
all alternatives have been adequately explored.
Section 3. That the L.A. County Committee on School District
Reorganization is requested, in the public interest, to schedule a
further hearing on said proposals when all pertinent facts have been
fully developed and there-is adequate opportunity for informed public
decisions on this highly important matter..
Section 4. That the City Council requests that a further
hearing on the proposal be held within the City of Rosemead and offers
its full cooperation in that regard.
