RESOLUTION NO. 73-99
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING
THE REVENUE CONTROL AND TAX REDUCTION
INITIATIVE - PROPOSITION 1.
WHEREAS, taxes imposed by the State of California
are unreasonable in number and excessively high in rate, and
WHEREAS, when combined with other taxes imposed at the
Federal and local levels they are approaching 50% of the personal
income of California residents, and
WHEREAS, certain elected state officials yield to the
influence of special interest groups and are unwilling to impose
limitations on expenditures, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the
State of California to impose limitations and restrictions upon the
Legislature so that they will not be vulnerable to such impositions, and
WHEREAS, the amendment to the California Constitution that
would be provided with the enactment of Proposition 1 will insulate the
people of California from the spending temptations of the Legislature,
WHEREAS, the amendment provides for sufficient funds for
.education, environmental protection, highways, public safety, parks
and recreation, and health programs and assistance for the truly needy
and disabled.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Rosemead, California,: does hereby endorse and support the
Revenue Control and Tax Reduction Initiative - Proposition 1, on
November 6, 1973.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of October, 1973
