A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD COMMEMORATING THE BILL OF RIGHTS AND
OBSERVING DECEMBER 9 THROUGH DECEMBER-15 AS
BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK.
WHEREAS, December 15, 1973, will mark the 182nd anniversary
of the Bill of Rights, those first ten amendments to the United
States Constitution which are so deeply involved with individudl
rights under our form of government; and
WHEREAS, the importance of these amendments and the basic
tenets of the Constitution have been in the spotlight these past
12 months and have again proven their timeless nature and unfailing
strength; and
WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights Commemoration Committee again is
supporting the December 9 -15 observance of BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK, a
tribute it started 33 years ago in California and which now is
widely observed throughout the nation; and
WHEREAS, the Commemoration Committee and many other court
and governmental agencies, schools, churches and temples and
fraternal and patriotic societies will be observing the occasion
in various and appropriate ways;
NOW, THEREFORE, we do proclaim and urge observance of the
period of December 9 through December 15 as BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK,
calling on all residents of the City of Rosemead to join in a
pisblic commemoration, if possible, and to take the few minutes
needed to re -read these important amendments, part of our heritage
and fundamental law; we further suggest an appropriate showing of
the national colors during the period.
