A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR SENATE,
BILL NO. 1652.
WHEREAS, Senator David Roberti, 27th District, has introduced
Sanate Bill No. 1652, which will eliminate and abolish the Business
Inventory Tax; and
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities has taken no official
position on SB 1652, and has reported that it is believed that this
legislation will have no significant revenue effect on cities; and
WHEREAS, the Business Inventory Tax has created hardship on
our State's small business enterprises; and
WHEREAS, should the tax be removed, the increased sales in the
months of January and February may create additional sales tax in
sufficient amount to off-set revenue loss from the Business Inventory
Tax.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TFE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the Cityoof Rosemead hereby
supports Senate Bill No. 1652, aimed at the elimination and abolishment
of the Business Inventory Tax.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit certified
copies of this resolution to Senator Alfred H. Song, Assemblymen
Walter Karabian and Harvey Johnson, the League of California Cities,
the California Contract Cities Association, and the Rosemead Chamber
of Commerce.
SECTION 3. The Mayor, or presiding officer, is authorized
to affix his signature to this resolution signifying its adoption,
and the City Clerk, or his duly appointed Deputy, is directed to attest
thereto.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 11th day of April, 1974.
