CC - 1974-43 - Prop 30 •
RESOLUTION NO. 74-43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD ENDORSING PROPOSITION 3, CAL-VET
$350 MILLION BOND MEASURE ON THE JUNE 14TH
STATEWIDE BALLOT.
WHEREAS, the Cal-Vet program has been providing low-
interest home and farm loans to California veterans for 52 years,
to help them become happier and more secure citizens; and
WHEREAS, this program is entirely self-liquidating and
costs the taxpayer absolutely nothing; and
WHEREAS, loans now being processed will completely
exhaust available funds, while applications from Vietnam and Korean
veterans still pour in at the rate of 1600 to 1800 per month; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 3, a bond measure on the June 4th
statewide ballot, will provide $350 million to allow this program to
continue; and
WHEREAS, home purchases made possible by Cal-Vet loans
pump millions of dollars into the economy each year, and create jobs
in construction, insurance, appliance, home furnishings and other
industries; and
WHEREAS, we recognize our obligation to continue demonstrating
gratitude and generosity to today's Vietnam veterans, as we have to
the 283,000 veterans who have already received Cal-Vet loans;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD,
CALIFORNIA HEREBY ENDORSES PROPOSITION 3, so that Cal-Vet Loans may
continue to help our veterans help themselves at no cost to the
taxpayer, and calls on all Californians to do likewise, giving
Proposition 3 an overwhelming YES vote on June 4th.
