SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS SCHEDULE FOR NOV. AND DEC. 2009
SUMMARY
Due to upcoming scheduling conflicts and seasonal holiday celebrations, the City
Council will consider actions to consolidate the two regular Council meetings in
November into a single Council meeting on Tuesday, November 17 Also, due to the
Christmas holiday season, the City Council will consider cancellation of the regular
meeting of December 22, 2009.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council schedule a meeting on Tuesday, November 17,
2009 in lieu of regularly scheduled meetings on November 10 and 24, 2009; and cancel
the meeting of December 22, 2009.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS
Attendance at the upcoming National League of Cities Conference will conflict with the
regular City Council meeting scheduled for November 10, 2009. Also, the November
24, 2009 regular City Council meeting is close to the Thanksgiving holiday and many
citizens may be traveling to be with family. As a result, staff is proposing that the
November 10th and 24th meetings be cancelled and that a City Council meeting be
scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 2009.
Also, the various demands of the Christmas holiday season will likely impact the ability
of many to attend the regular December 22, 2009 City Council meeting. Consequently,
in keeping with past practice during the holiday season, staff is proposing that the
second City Council meeting in December also be cancelled.
Upon Council approval of this modified schedule, the City Council will hold its meetings
during the next two months on November 17, 2009 and December 8, 2009 respectively.
