RE: AUTHORIZATION TO ATTEND 231D INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZED
CRIME CONFERENCE, APRIL 2-5,2001, LAS VEGAS
Attached for your consideration is information regarding the aforementioned conference. In the
past Mayor Pro Tern Imperial, Deputy Valenzuela, and Deputy Zarate have attended these
conferences. The tentative program overview includes sessions on Narcotics Smuggling, Alien
Smuggling, Gaming Fraud Investigations, Development of Asian Informants, Asian Gangs and
Violence in Schools, and a Global Update on Asian Gangs and Organized Crime.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Council authorize the attendance of Mayor Pro Tern Imperial and
Deputies Valenzuela and Zarate.
