Attached for the City Council's review are two responses to the
City's "Notice Inviting Bids" for a Ford Club Wagon and two Ford
Ranger pick-up trucks. Two of the vehicles were approved by the
Council as a part of the FY 93/94 budget. Staff is recommending
purchasing a third vehicle as 'a replacement of the 1987 Ford Tempo
now being used by the Planning Department. The vehicles were bid as
a package in an effort to take advantage of volume sales discounts
which are offered by some dealers. The bid response was as follows:
Prestige Ford, San Gabriel $41,212
Ed Butts Ford, La Puente $41,735
Please note that Prestige Ford submitted two bids - one for 1993
vehicles and one for 1994 vehicles. Staff is recommending the
purchase of 1994 vehicles to take advantage of options not available
on the 1993 model years.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award bid for the three (3)
vehicles to Prestige Ford of San Gabriel. It is also recommended
that the Council approve the use of appropriated reserves to purchase
the Ford Ranger to be used by the Planning Department.
