RE: RESOLUTION NO. 93-02 - DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE RESOLUTION
Federal law now requires public agencies who receive Federal grants
to adopt provisions discouraging drug use in the workplace. As a
result of this requirement, staff is forwarding this resolution to
encourage adoption of a drug-free workplace for the City. Among
the provisions that would be adopted would be an on-going drug-free
awareness program; information on the dangers of drugs in the
workplace; any available drug counseling and rehabilitation
services; and penalties for drug violations in the workplace.
To implement the resolution staff will also develop a substance
abuse policy that will become an official part of the City's
Personnel Rules and Regulations and will be effective immediately
upon adoption of this resolution.
It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 93-02.
