February 11, 2010
The regular meeting of the Rosemead Youth committee was called to order by Chair
Roxanne Tuong in the Rosemead Park Multi Purpose room located at 4343 Encinita Ave,
Rosemead, California.

OFFICIALS PRESENT: Chair Tuong, Vice-chair Chen, Committee Member Amezcua,
Committee Member Dao, Committee Member Loc, Committee Member Quezada,
Committee Member Hallman.
ABSENT: None

2. CONSENT CALENDAR
A) Minutes
Committee Vice-chair Chen made a motion, seconded by Committee Chair
Tuong to accept minutes. Vote resulted in:
Yes: Tuong, Dao, Hallman, Loc, Quezada, Chen, and Amezcua
No: None
Abstain: None
Absent: None
3. MATTERS FROM STAFF
A) Upcoming Events of Interest'
Committee Members were asked to attend the San Gabriel Valley Teen
Summit to be held in the City of Baldwin Park on March 6"i, 2010.
Committee members were asked to inform staff as soon as possible about
prospective attendance.
4. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION-COMMITTEE MEMBERS
A) Youth in Government Program
Sub-committee presented a formal proposal for a debate and were asked by
staff to revise and present again at the next scheduled regular meeting.
B) Extended Events at Rosemead and Garvey Pool
Sub-committee presented a formal proposal for an event and were asked by
staff to revise and present again at the next scheduled regular meeting.
C) City Scholarship
Committee member Dao proposed that the City start a scholarship program
for high school seniors based on grades and involvement in City efforts. The
entire committee agreed to do research on the matter and return with the
information.
D) Location of Next Meeting
Committee members all agreed with having the next scheduled regular
meeting at Rosemead City Hall Council Chamber at 8838 E. Valley Blvd,
Rosemead, CA 91770. 1

A) None
