SUBJECT: FARMERS MARKET DISCUSSION
SUMMARY
The City of Rosemead Farmers Market provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to
purchase fresh produce and other goods while supporting local and regional vendors. The
Farmers Market also serves as a community gathering place and contributes to the City’s efforts
to provide programs and activities that promote community engagement.
DISCUSSION
The City of Rosemead Farmers Market was established in 2018 as an opportunity to provide
residents with convenient access to fresh produce and other products while creating a community
gathering place for residents and visitors. When the Farmers Market first began, it was located in
the City Hall Plaza area.
Since its establishment, the Farmers Market has continued to evolve, including a change in
location. The market is currently held at Rosemead Park on Monday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. The Farmers Market is managed and operated by FM&LCE, an outside vendor
responsible for coordinating market operations and participating vendors. The market operates
from the beginning of April to the end of September.
As the Farmers Market continues to operate, staff monitors market activities, vendor
participation, community attendance, and overall operations. Periodic evaluation of the market
provides an opportunity to identify areas that are working well and areas where modifications or
enhancements could improve the overall experience and encourage greater community
participation.
Staff is interested in receiving feedback from the Parks Commission regarding ways to
strengthen the Farmers Market and enhance its appeal to the community. As part of the
discussion, the Commission may also consider whether the current location, operating day, and
hours continue to best serve the community and support the overall goals of the Farmers Market.

Feedback received from the Parks Commission will assist staff in evaluating potential
improvements and working with FM&LCE to identify strategies that could support the continued
growth and long-term success of the Farmers Market.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Parks Commission receive and discuss the information provided
regarding the City of Rosemead Farmers Market and provide feedback and recommendations to
staff regarding potential enhancements and opportunities to support the continued success of the
program.
