CC - Item 4D - Approved proposal agreement with Andre Gotanian for Alterations to Council Chamber Public Address System - Box 070TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL FROM: BILL CROWE, CITY MANAGER DATE: JUNE 10, 2003 RE: APPROVE PROPOSAL AGREEMENT WITH ANDRE GOTANIAN FOR ALTERATIONS TO COUNCIL CHAMBER PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM In order to improve sound quality in the Council Chambers and -accommodate those with disabilities who desire to participate in public meetings, staff recently solicited proposals for upgrading the sound system. Andre Gotanian has submitted a proposal and conducted a demonstration of the recommended new hardware. The initial recommended alterations call for replacement of seven stationary microphones with seven clip-on portable microphones and one stationary podium microphone for $5,500. RECOMMENDATION: Approve proposal agreement with Andre Gotanian for alterations to Council Chamber public address system and authorize funding out of appropriated reserves. Replace seven (7) stationary microphones with new clip-on portable microphones. 2. Replace the stationary microphone at the public podium. 3. Provide all labor and materials for the installation of seven (7) clip-on portable microphones and one (1) stationary microphone. 4. Proposal includes testing, demonstration, monitoring, adjustments, and observation of completed alterations under live conditions (i.e. attendance at a council meeting), and any training or instruction on an as needed basis. Proposal Bid: $5,500.00 Future Recommendations: it may become evident that it is necessary to replace the existing seven (7) speakers (five (5) in the council chamber and two (2) in the lobby) to achieve the maximum potential of the new microphones.
