CDC - Item 2B - Minutes 8-22-06• • MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING ROSEMEAD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION August 22, 2006 The regular meeting of the Rosemead Community Development Commission was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 7:05 p.m. in the conference room of City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California. Vice-Chairman Nunez led the pledge to the flag and Chairman Taylor led the invocation. ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: Present: Commissioners Tran, Vice-Chairman Nunez, Chairman Taylor, Commissioner Imperial (arrived at 7:13pm) Absent: Clark (Stated she will be in attendance for the 8 p.m. meeting) 1. PUBLIC COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The following resolution was presented to the agency for adoption: A. iResolution No. 2006-18 Claims and Demands Recommendation: Adopt Resolution No. 2006-18, for payment of Commission expenditures in the amount of $23,696.16 demands 7943 through 7948. B. Resolution No. 2006-19 Claims and Demands Recommendation: Adopt Resolution No. 2006-19, for payment of Commission expenditures in the amount of $45,530.09 demands 7937 through 7963. CDC Minutes August 22, 2006 Page I of 3 • • A motion was made by Commissioner Tran, with a second by Vice-Chairman Nunez that the Commission adopt Resolution No. 2006-18 and Resolution No. 2006-19 for payment of Commission expenditures. Vote resulted: Aye: Nunez, Taylor, and Tran No: None Absent: Clark, Imperial Abstain: None The Chairman declared said motion duly carried and so ordered. 3. MATTERS FROM THE CHAIRMAN & COMMISSIONERS None 4. MATTERS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & STAFF City Manager Lazzaretto introduced new employee Brian Saeki; he previously worked at City of Arcadia. Mr. Saeki will serve as the City Hall remodel project manager. Mr. Saeki reported that he is currently directing the architect to proceed with the creation of the schematic design for the renovation. In the next few weeks, preliminary design of the structure and interior model will be available for the Commission consideration. Once the design development is approved by the council, architects will take between 60 to 90 days to draft construction documents. Renovation is proposed to occur in three potential phases: Phase 1: Council Chambers; Phase 2: Administrative Offices; and Phase 3: Planning Area After the plans are complete, an open bid process will take place. Construction is expected to take between five to seven months. Note: Commissioner Imperial joined the meeting at 7:13 pm; Mr. Saeki briefly summarized the renovation timeline for him. City Attorney Wallin asked where Council meetings will take place during construction. Mr. Saeki indicated they could take place at the new Safety Center on Garvey or the Rosemead Community Center. CDC Minutes August 22, 2006 Page 2 of 3 • Chairman Taylor suggested construction could be phased in two-week intervals around the Council and Planning commission meetings. Mr. Saeki agreed to work with meeting schedules as much as possible. S.ADJOURNMENT There being no further action to be taken at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The next meeting will take place on September 12, 2006 at 7:00 PM.
