CDC - Item 2 - Bid For Playground Equipment Garvey/Sally Tanner ParkIRL Rosemead Community Development Commission RCDC 8838 East Valley Boulevard, CA 91770 Tel 626.569.2100 Fax 626.307.9218 MEMORANDUM TO: BILL CROWE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FROM: MICHAEL D. BURBANK, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION~- DATE: JUNE 8, 2005 RE: AWARD OF BID FOR PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT GARVEY AND SALLY TANNER PARKS As part of this year's Budget, $ 84,000.00 was budgeted to install Play Equipment at Garvey.and Sally Tanner Parks and to provide Rubber Surfacing under the Play Equipment at Garvey Park. The funding sources for these projects consisted of $ 73,000.00 from the Rosemead Community Development Commission and $ 11,000.00 from a Recycling Grant. During the bidding process, 6 bid packets were taken out. Bids were opened on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 and we received one bid from ORTCO, Inc. for $ 82,842.38 or $ 1,157.62 below budget I talked to several Contractors that took out bid packets as to why they didn't bid the project and they indicated there was a lot of work available and that they were very busy. We did encounter a problem during the bidding process. The Recycling Grant Administrator advised the City that the Recycling Grant funds could not be used for the Rubber Surfacing that was to go under the play, equipment at Garvey Park. Consequently, we lost $ 11,000.00 from our budget of $ 84,000.00. 07-n-b9s/sb COMMISSION AGENDA JUN1r200.. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Rosemead Community Development Commission award the project to ORTCO, Inc. for their bid of $ 82,842.38 and appropriate $ 10,000.00 from the Commission's Unappropriated Reserve to handle the short fall from the Recycling Grant. attachments 07-n-b9s/sb BID PROPOSAL FORM TO: Rosemead Community Development Commission 8838 East Valley Boulevard Rosemead, California 91770 I have received the documents titled: Notice Inviting Bids, Drawings, Instruction to Bidders, Specifications, Agreement, Contractors Qualification Statement, Bid Proposal Form, and Addendums K # & # I have satisfied myself as to the scope of work and conditions of the site.
