RESOLUTION NO. 2000-67 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CI'T'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTNIENT TO THE OFFICES OF THIS CITY THAT WERE TO 13E ELECTED ON TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 2001 At the close of the nomination period on December 3, 2000, there were an insufficient number of candidates to conduct an election, causing cancellation of the General Municipal Election. -file City Council shall receive the City Clerk's Certification that there are no more candidates than seats to be filled and adopt the proposed resolution appointing the nominees as Member of the City Council. RESOLUTION NO. 2000-68 - A RESOLUTION OF TFfE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD URGING IMMEDIATE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT INTERVENE AND REFORM IN THE CALIFORNIA ELECTRIC ENERGY MARKETPLACE The 1998 state deregulation of the electric utility market was supposed to bring competition into the marketplace, with resulting benefits of reduced costs and improved services to businesses and consumers. However, the restructuring process has produced consequences that are causing supply shortages and adverse economic impacts. Federal and state government action is required to avoid further economic disruptions and restore order in the marketplace. Recommendation: Adopt Resolution No. 2000-68 and forward a copy thereof to Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Governor Gray Davis, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, Congresswoman-elect Hilda Solis, Assentblyntember Gloria Romero, and Anthony Gonsalves.
