APPROVAL OF MINUTES: SEPTEMBER 12, 2000 - REGULAR MEETING
OF INTEREST TO CITIZENS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE
1) Those wishing to speak on any Agenda Item, including public hearings, should have their
Speaker Request Form submitted no later than the time immediately following Oral
Communications.
2) Immediately after approval of the minutes and again at the end of the meeting, there is a
period of time set aside for those persons wishing to address the Council on matters not

A. RESOLUTION NO. 2000-55 - CLAIMS AND DEMANDS
Recom endation: Adopt Resolution No. 2000-55, for payment of City expenditures.
B. RESOLUTION NO. 2000-56 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DECLARING OCTOBER 27, 2000, AS
CONGRESSMAN MATTHEW G. "MARTY" MARTINEZ DAY IN THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD
Congressman Martinez will be leaving the U.S. House of Representatives after serving 18
years as Congressman.
Recommendation: Adopt Resolution No. 2000-55.

C. RESOLUTION NO. 2000-57 PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 22-28,2000, AS
CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION WEEK
Lead poisoning is the number one environmental health hazard facing America's
children. During this week, the campaign for a lead-safe America is being observed.
Recommendation: Approve Resolution No. 2000-57
IV. CONSENT CALENDAR - RECOMMENDATION: APPROVAL
0 CCEPTANCE OF BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR 1999-2000
STREET RESURFACING AND STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS
ON VARIOUS CITY STREETS
On October 12, 2000, bids were received for the subject project, which provides for an
asphalt concrete overlay and street lighting upgrades on various City streets. City
Council will consider accepting all bids and awarding the contract to the lowest,
responsible bidder, Silvia Construction, Inc.
Recommendation: Accept all bids and award the contract to Silvia Construction, inc.;
/an authorize the Mayor to sign the contract on behalf of the City.
B APPROVAL OF EXTENSION OF AGREEMENT FOR STREET
. SERVICES WITH CALIFORNIA STREET MAINTENANCE, INC.
California Street Maintenance has provided street sweeping services to Rosemead for ten
years, and is requesting a three-year extension with a 2.5% adjustment for a monthly rate
of $12,248.75.
R commendation: Authorize a three-year extension of the agreement, effective January
2001, and approve amendment.
CC-C AUTHORIZATION TO REJECT CLAIM AGAINST THE CITY FROM
ANDREA MARIE CHAVARIN
Claimant tripped on broken water sprinkler guard at Janson Elementary School, injuring
her shin. Janson Elementary School is owned and controlled by the Rosemead
Elementary School District.
Recommendation: Rejection of claim.
