RE: RESCIND CONTRACT AWARD TO TIM MAJOR FOR CURB HOUSE
NUMBERING (FY 1999 -2000) AND AUTHORIZE RE- ADVERTISEMENT
FOR BIDS
On February 22, 2000, the City Council awarded the contract for the 1999 -2000 Curb
House Numbering project to Tim Major in the amount of $21,168. Tim Major was not able
to secure adequate bonding pursuant to the contract specifications, which required posting
Faithful Performance and Labor and Material bonds in the amounts of 100% and 50% of
the contract amount or $21,168 and $10,584, respectively. For this reason, it is
recommended that award of the contract to Tim Major be rescinded and the project be re-
advertised for bids
The proposed schedule for re- advertisement for bids and construction is as follows

Begin work
Complete work
June 1, 2000
June 13, 2000
July 17, 2000
October 16, 2000
Based on prior bids received, the estimated cost for this work is $35,000.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council rescind the contract awarded to Tim Major and
authorize staff to re- advertise for bids.
