California Earthquake Preparedness Week
November 10-14, 2008
Emergency Preparedness is to encourage Americans.
emergencies in their homes, businesses, and schools; and
to prepare for
increasing awareness about earthquake safety risks in homes and
workplaces and practicing the appropriate preparedness measures could
greatly reduce losses from earthquakes; and
on November 13, 2008, all Southern Californians will participate in the
"Shakeout Drill"and other events to get ready for the big earthquake,
and to prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes; and
the City of Rosemead is doing everything it can to prepare for disaster,
and residents also have an important role to play in ensuring their own
safety during an emergency; and
Emergency Preparedness is a shared responsibility and each of us can
reduce the risk we face by better understanding what could happen and
learning how to better prepare ourselves, our families and our
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rosemead City Council does
hereby proclaim November 10-14, 2008 as "California Earthquake Preparedness
Week," in the City of Rosemead and to encourage all citizens, businesses, public "and
private agencies, and educational institutions to participate in the "Shakeout Drill," on
November 13, 2008 and to create an emergency supply kit and personal preparedness
plan.
