RE: CONSIDERATION OF JOINT USE AGREEMENTS BETWEEN GARVEY
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL AND TEMPLE SCHOOL AND
THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
The Garvey School District is applying for a State Grant for the construction of two
gymnasiums, one at Garvey Intermediate School and one at Temple School. An important
requirement by the State of California is that the school district must have a "joint use" partner
when they submit the application. The deadline for submitting the application to the State is
June xx, 2004. The Garvey School District is considering the attached agreements at their June
17 Meeting.
It is important to understand that the City is not committing additional resources to the Garvey
School District. We are confirming that the proposed staffing levels are equal to the existing
staffing levels we have in the 2004 -05 City Budget. Furthmore, the District is responsible for the
construction and operation, including maintenance and utilities, for both facilities. We have the
option of using the facilities up to 20 hours per week.
The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the agreements. Also attached are copies of the
Grant Applications.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Rosemead City Council approve the attached agreements.
