SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF REPRESENTATIVE TO THE SAN GABRIEL
VALLEY MOSQUITO & VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT
SUMMARY
As Council is aware, Council Member William Alarcon was appointed as the City's
representative to the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control Board. Council
Member Alarcon's term expires on December 31, 2015. The City has received a letter
from the District Manager of the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District
requesting the City Council appoint a representative to its Board prior to January 8,
2016. The qualifications for the appointment is any individual who is a registered voter
in the City and a resident within the District.
Council Member Alarcon has expressed a desire to be reappointed to the Mosquito and
Vector Control District Board and is requesting Council consideration in that regard.
Under California Health and Safety Code Section 2024, the appointment is for a term of
two or four years, at the appointing authority's discretion. Council Member Alarcon was
appointed to a two year term.
Staff Recommendation
That the City Council appoint a representative to the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito &
Vector Control District Board of Directors to serve a two year term beginning January 1,
2016.
