If an ABC license is involved in the business transaction, State ABC immediately notifies the City in writing. The written notification contains the applicant's contact information, business address, and license type requested. Upon receiving this information, the City notifies the applicant of the zoning code requirements. State ABC will not issue the license without City authorization. When a change of business ownership does not involve the sale of alcohol, the City becomes aware of the change of ownership through the business licensing process. Current business owners usually submit a written request to cancel their business license when they go out of business. If a new business owner fails to obtain their business license, the City learns about the new ownership during the business license renewal process. City staff from the Community Development Department also actively collaborate with City Code Enforcement to keep them apprised of business vacancies. • 3
