DECEMBER 20, 2016
The special meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called to order by Mayor Armenta at 5:01
p.m. in the Rosemead City Council Chamber located at 8838 East Valley Boulevard, Rosemead,
California.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by Mayor Pro Tern Low
INVOCATION was led by Mayor Armenta
ROLL CALL: Mayor Armenta, Mayor Pro Tem Low, Councilmembers Clark, Ly
ABSENT: Council Member Alarcon
1. PUBLIC COMMENT -None
2. MATTERS FROM CITY MANAGER& STAFF
A. March 7, 2017, General Municipal Election
Recommendation: That the City Council adopt Resolution No.2016-67,cancelling
the March 7, 2017, election and appointing Sandra Armenta, Margaret Clark, and
Steven Ly each to four-year terms of office as City Councilmembers.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD. CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT TO THE OFFICES OF THIS CITY THAT
WERE TO BE ELECTED ON TUESDAY, MARCH 7, 2017
City Attorney Richman asked if the election code required the vote of all five
governing board members in order to cancel the election.
City Clerk Donohue explained the election code did not specify all votes from five
governing board members was required.
City Clerk Donohue stated the nomination period for the March 7, 2017, General
Municipal Election was held from Monday, November 14, 2016 through Monday,
December 12, 2016. At the close of the nomination period, the following
individuals were nominated: Sandra Armenta, Margaret Clark, and Steven Ly. He
noted at this time. the City Council may appoint the individuals who have been
nominated and cancel the election by resolution.
ACTION: Moved by Mayor Pro Tern Low and seconded by Council Member Ly
to approve the recommended action. The motion unanimously carried by the
following vote: AYES: Armenta, Clark,Low,Ly and ABSENT: Alarcon

A. City Council Comments
Mayor Armenta thanked the community for their ongoing support as election
officials for the City.
4. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m. The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled
to take place on January 10,2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rosemead City Hall Council
Chamber.
