Prepared by: — A4 Marc Donohue, City Clerk Attachment A: Resolution 2017-30 Attachment B: Fact Sheet ITEM NUMBER: 7A 1 Attachment A Resolution 2017-30 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-30 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF ENERGY UPGRADE CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, the Golden State is a national leader in energy conservation, embracing its residents' and small businesses' efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote energy efficiency, putting California on track to produce 33 percent of its energy from renewable resources by 2030. WHEREAS, California is well on its way toward doubling energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent before 2030 — goals as set forth in the "Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015" (Senate Bill 350). WHEREAS, Energy Upgrade California is a statewide initiative of the California Public Utilities Commission, committed to ensuring that every Californian is empowered with the tools and information they need to keep making strides toward a cleaner, healthier, more energy efficient, and prosperous state. WHEREAS, Energy Upgrade California will launch its "Do Your Thing" campaign on April 26, 2017 — a campaign that will serve as an anthem for all Californians, motivating us to take actions big or small to better manage personal energy consumption. Every Californian can play an important role in helping us attain these goals by becoming energy stewards. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City of Rosemead supports Energy Upgrade California's call to have all Californians "Do Your Thing." Each Californian can do one thing — flipping off a light, unplugging unused appliances or using LED lightbulbs —to use less energy. Each individual action can result in big change not only for the City of Rosemead but also the state. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and hereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 11" day of July, 2017. Energy Upgrade California is supported by an alliance of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Energy Commission, utilities, regional energy networks, local governments, businesses, and nonprofits to help communities meet state and local energy and climate action goals. Purpose: Energy Upgrade California is uniting the state in a movement to help California thrive through smarter energy use.
