California Drought Progression December 20, 2011 July 29, 2014 June 27, 2017 Only about 8% of state remains within drought conditions Update on Imported Resources –as of 6/25/17 •State Water Project •Rainfall: 94.2 inches during current water year (Oct. to Sept.) •~182% of average rainfall during current water year •Snowpack Peak: 44 inches deep (currently ~3 inches) •Snowpack Measurement: 158% of normal on April 1, 2017 •Current Snow -Runoff Forecast: 224% of average •SWP Exporter Allocation: 85% •Colorado River •Rainfall: 28.1 inches during current water year •~108% of average rainfall during current water year •Snowpack Peak: 20.3 inches deep (currently ~1 inch) •Snowpack Measurement: 128% of normal on April 1, 2017 •Current Snow -Runoff Forecast: 114% of average Recent Rainfall History –San Gabriel Valley The San Gabriel Valley needs 36 inches of rain to return to “normal” Key Well Forecast Current Elevation: 182 ft. (as of 5/26/17) Total Water Use Permanent Water Waste Prohibitions •On April 7, 2017, Governor Brown issued Executive Order B-40- 17 lifting the statewide emergency drought declaration and specific conservation provisions •Kept in place the temporary monthly water use reporting requirements and the following prohibitions against wasteful water use practices: No outdoor watering During or within 48 hours after a rain event No hosing down a sidewalk instead of using a broom or brush Overwatering a landscape Causing runoff onto sidewalk and/or gutter Upper District Programs –Conservation & Education Conservation booths Waterfest 2017 •Sat.
