SUBJECT: NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES 2018 CONGRESSIONAL CITY
CONFERENCE—MARCH 11 - 14, 2018—WASHINGTON, DC
SUMMARY
The City Council will consider authorizing the attendance of any Council Member who wishes to
attend the National League of Cities 2018 Congressional City Conference in Washington, on
March 11 — 14, 2018.
If majority of the City Council wishes to attend the Conference and will not be present for the
regular City Council Meeting scheduled on March 13, 2018, then the March 13, 2018 meeting
will be cancelled due to a lack of quorum.
In addition, if a majority of Council attends the conference and the majority wishes to meet with
a legislative body to discuss issues of general interest to the public, a special meeting agenda will
be posted.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
1. Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the attendance, at City expense, of any
Council Member that wishes to attend the National League of Cities Congressional City
Conference in Washington, on March 11 — 14, 2018.
2. If the majority of the City Council attends the conference, the March 13, 2018, City Council
meeting to be cancelled due to a lack of quorum.
ANALYSIS
The Expense and Use of Public Resources Policy, adopted by City Council Resolution No. 2005-
47, requires prior City Council approval for out-of-state travel beyond an adjacent state. Funding
for this purpose is contained in the City's annual budget.
