RE: APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT WITH MCGLADREY&PULLEN
FOR Y2K COMPLIANCE CONSULTING SERVICES
Attached for your consideration is a proposal from McGladrey&Pullen for Y2K compliance
consulting services. As you know this issue has received extensive coverage by the media. The
potential impact of a system failure due to the Y2K phenomenon is significant. Accordingly, staff
is recommending the retention of a consultant to analyze current City facilities and equipment and
make recommendations for necessary modifications and changes.
The Scope of Work includes Phase I, an Initial Review and Assessment; Phase II, Plan
Development; and the purchase of 2000 Planner Software. The Initial Review and Assessment
will provide the City with a recommendation and prioritization of what needs to be done to make
City Hall operations continue to function into the year 2000. Plan Development will contain
specific recommendations on which equipment needs to be replaced or updated;which contracts
need to be updated; which administrative procedures need to be changed to certify that future
contracts and purchases are compliant; and the amount of time needed for corrective action. The
proposed fees are as follows:
Phase I: Initial Review and Assessment $16,650-$18,650
Phase II: Plan Development $14,100-$18,100
2000 Planner Software $2,000
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Rosemead City Council approve the attached proposal and
appropriate $38,750 from Appropriated Reserves. Y, + -I
