RE: PURCHASE OF CITY'S 40TH ANNIVERSARY BANNERS FOR VALLEY
BOULEVARD STREET LAMPS
In an effort to promote the accomplishments of the City of Rosemead on the community's fortieth
anniversary, staff is proposing that the Council authorize the purchase of one-hundred (100) lieht
pole banners. The proposed banners would measure 3'wide by 8'tall and would depict the City Seal.
as weII as the slogan "Rosemead: A balanced community that cares." Attached for the Council's
review is an estimate from AAA Flag and Banner Manufacturing Company for 5110.50 per four-
color banner. The estimate includes manufacture, installation, removal and storage of 100 banners.
The total cost for that installation of the banners would be $11.500 plus tax. However, staff proposes
that the City "sell" sponsorship of the banners to local businesses and residents for $120.00 per
banner to help offset the cost. Sponsors would have their names printed on the bottom of the banner.
It is likely that the City would not sell 100 sponsorships. However, even a small number of
interested persons would help defray the costs. The intent, nonetheless, is not to subsidize the entire
program but to encourage a colorful and popular way to celebrate 40 years of cityhood.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the purchase of one-hundred (100) 3' X 8' four- 1
color flag pole banners and to allow local residents and businesses to sponsor banners for a sum of
$120.00 per banner.

Subject: City Light Pole Banners
The following is the quotation you requested for the manufacturing , installation,
removal and storage of 100 light pole banners. The copy and colors are yet to
be determined, however, this bid will indicate the cost for 3 and 4 color line art
spot color banners. Prices will include cost of adding sponsor names( not logo's)
to the bottom of the banner.
COST:
100 3 color banners: $103.50 ea. _ $10,350 plus tax
100 4 color banners: $110 50 ea. _ $11,500 plus tax
There is no charge for addition of sponsor names in quantities over 6, we can
screen print those nameswe charge an additional 17.50 per banner for the
addition of names in quantities less than 6. When the details are finalized i will
submit a final bid with all costs itemized.
